Love your enemies.

Love your enemies.

But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Matthew 5:44

Loving your enemies may be one of the hardest commands Jesus ever gave, but it’s also one of the clearest pictures of his teachings. Anyone can love people who are easy to love. Christ calls us higher: to respond with grace when the world expects retaliation.

Loving your enemies doesn’t mean approving of what they did or pretending it didn’t hurt. It means refusing to let bitterness take hold of your heart. It means choosing prayer over revenge, compassion over hatred, and trust over pride.

Jesus didn’t just teach this, He lived it. Even on the cross, He prayed for the very people who mocked and crucified Him. That kind of love can only come from a heart transformed by God.
