When we think about greatness, we usually picture influence, recognition, and being served. But Jesus flips the table on this.
On the night before the cross, He didn’t gather the disciples to make a final speech about His achievements. He wrapped a towel around His waist and washed their feet. Our Savior chose the lowest place on purpose. And in doing so, He showed us what real strength looks like.
Serving isn’t just something we do when it’s convenient. It’s a posture. A decision to mirror Jesus in the way we love people.. quietly, consistently, and without needing credit.
Serving doesn’t shrink you, it shapes you. It loosens your grip on pride, softens your heart toward others, and turns ordinary moments into worship. Because when we serve, we’re not just helping people… we’re reflecting the heart of Christ.
This week, don’t wait for a big opportunity. Look for the small ones:
-
take the task nobody wants
-
encourage someone who’s overlooked
-
give your time without announcing it
-
do the right thing when it costs you comfort
Scripture: “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45
Reflection: Where is God inviting you to pick up the towel this week?
